This course aims to introduce students to the theory of human psychology, theory of counselling and basic counselling skills. While it does not qualify participants to work as
counsellors, nor as psychologists, the course provides a comprehensive introduction to the issues and ideas that are current in the art and science of human psychology and counselling.

Five passes in Leaving Certificate/Applied, QQI Level 4 or equivalent.
Students will be selected by means of an interview and a short written essay. Prior learning and practical work experience is taken into account at interview stage. Mature and international students are welcome to apply. A limited number of VTOS places available.

The course has a new link to Arts (Psychology and two other subjects) in NUI Maynooth. 89% of our Counselling & Psychology students have progressed to Third Level Institutions.
