Congratulations to Adrian Lupu who received the Sports and Cultural Council Niall Smyth Memorial Bursary this year.
The scheme is there to assist CDETB students to achiceve thwir potential in their particular Sporting or Cultural endeavours. Approximately 30 students benefit from the bursary each year. Adrian, who is sitting this year's Leaving Certificate, is three times Irish Open Champion at under 60kg in the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. We hope the Niall Smyth Bursary will greatly assist and encourage Adrian as he competes in the future.
Congratulations also go to our Leaving Certificate and Repeat Leaving Certificate students who competed at the SCC Intermediate Athletics in Santry on Friday 11 May. Gary Fleming achieved a second in the 1500metres and Franklin Okanume came third in the 100metres race. Our relay team also picked up a medal for coming third in a competition of seven other schools.

Repeating may seem like the end of the world but the dedicated and hard-working teachers and staff at Plunket College make repeating less stressful. I'd recommend it to anyone.
"I never thought that I would go to university because of Leaving Cert points, never mind have the opportunity to study in an area (Psychology) where it is so difficult to get a place. I owe how well I did in university in no small part to the year I spent on the Counselling & Psychology course in Plunket College; it was indispensable in getting me where I am now, a second year Psychology student in NUI Maynooth.
