Principal’s Welcome:

Welcome to Plunket College. Located as we are in the heart of Whitehall, a very mature suburb
of Dublin, we now find that we are catering increasingly for senior and adult students.
This brochure provides detailed information on the range of courses we offer which can be broadly categorised as follows:

• PLC Courses
• Courses for Adults – VTOS
• Repeat Leaving Certifi cate
• Leaving Certifi cate/Applied
• Part-time Adult Education

As we offer a very comprehensive range of programmes it is likely that we have a course suited
to your needs – if not we will be pleased to direct you to another suitable centre.

Over the last 40 years we have developed a spirit that is centred on respect for each individual – staff & students.

We try to provide an atmosphere which is encouraging and supportive for students and which will help them to achieve their varied goals. It is vitally important that students take full advantage of the support structures which are provided by Course Tutors/Co-ordinators and Guidance Counsellors.

I would address a special word of encouragement to those who have been outside the education system for a long time and may now have a desire to return. It is never too late to learn! It is not at all uncommon, for example for adult learners to return to study for the Leaving Certifi cate in their 50’s and 60’s. In these cases motivation more than compensates for time missed from study in earlier years. Increasingly in recent years we fi nd that we are enrolling more and more international students, a trend we very much welcome. The mix of students of different nationalities adds greatly to the diversity and richness of life in the college.

To those of you with an interest in sport, debates, public speaking or music I would like to encourage you to share your talents and the Student and Cultural Council (SCC) of CDVEC supports such activities.

You are most welcome to visit the college and speak to Tutors (by appointment) or to attend our OPEN DAY which usually occurs in February each year. Please contact our Admissions offi ce if you need further information about any of our courses. I would also refer you to our college web site www.plunketcollege.ie.

I hope that we can provide a course which is suited to your needs and wish you every success in your studies.
